Fear as a Canadian is going into sketchy neighbourhoods such as East Vancouver with the fear of being mugged and or hurt. Places like these are all over Canada where people with very little money or addicted to drugs can harm other people passing by their area. Although in most areas in Canada are generally safe, certain areas can be dangerous. People in wealthier areas are more naive and could get scared by some scruffy people or areas which pose no threat to anyone.
I liked the speaking style of Barack Obama the most because of his passionate and important pauses. He would be the best for my speech because my speech contains many strong points that need to be emphasized throughout the speech. His varying volumes would help show the less important parts of my speech such as listed facts. Obama’s speaking style shows me the power of pausing and varying volumes.
The speech by Charlie Chaplin resonated and inspired me the most because of the extremely strong message. The message of men helping others and greed is relevant even when the speech was made in 1940. Chaplin’s changing of volume is seen as he steadily increases his passion and emphasis towards the end of the speech.. In this chapter, Candy is discovered to have a crippled hand and dog. His dog is disliked by many because of its smell and how it does no work. He loves his dog and has raised since it was a pup. His job is to clean up the bunkhouse and keep up the
I do not understand the actions of Mathilde in The Necklace. Her decisions seem to surround the notion of being richer and more greedy. She could have owned up to her mistakes but instead she did not want to tell her friend that she had lost it. This made her a hardened woman who had to pay off her debts. Even when her husband sacrificed his summer vacation for a dress she was not impressed. Consequently, she wanted more extravagant jewelry even when her friend offered her a large assortment. This is behaviour that I do not understand and maybe never will.
Every person should have the chance to walk with everybody else because people make mistakes in their life and want a second chance. For example, drug addicts have gone to rehabilitation centers and have come out stronger and ready to join society. But instead many people will not give that person a chance because of their dark past and then that person must live as an outcast because of one mistake. I see this as an unfair notion because as kids and young adults make countless other mistakes that may not affect the rest of their life like drug abuse can. The stories of successful drug rehab patients are very limited because of exclusion or discrimination because of their past. This should change so that more people are able to live their lives properly. |
